Check your dictation and compare it with a reference.

Review your finished text or compare a literal dictation with its original reference. Both checks run locally in your browser. Original fictional exercises help you try the workflow.

ohnetippen is #1 in our internal benchmark for German speech: 99.99% word accuracy (0.01% Word Error Rate) and 150 ms processing time versus 400 ms for Weesper Neon Flow, the second-place solution in our internal comparison.

Bavarian and Lower Saxon accents, Austrian German and Swiss German: speak in your own voice.

Developed in Germany. Speech processing exclusively on European servers.

Available for Windows, macOS, Android and iPhone.

Check your text

Your text stays in this browser tab. No account or upload. The check counts text and lists numbers and placeholders to review.

Up to 20,000 characters. Reading time is an estimate at 200 words per minute.

Compare a dictation with its reference

Paste the original text and its dictated output. The comparison runs in this tab, without upload, recording or storage.

Read the same reference in the same environment when comparing tools. Note the microphone, mode and version yourself. Review names, numbers and the changes you need to make afterwards.

Up to 300 normalized words and 20,000 characters per field. An empty output counts as all reference words omitted.

Method: Unicode forms are standardized with NFKC and words are compared in lowercase. Letter and digit sequences are tokens; punctuation and symbols separate them. Accents remain significant. Written and numeric forms are not converted, so “twelve” and “12” differ.

WER = (replaced + omitted + added words) ÷ reference words. Added words can take WER above 100%. Equally short edit paths can produce different error counts; this check prefers replacements when tied. WER does not assess meaning, punctuation or intentional rewriting. Review formatted texts and spoken corrections separately against the intended result. These short exercises are not a product benchmark. WER method reference.

Practice with fictional examples

These three original synthetic exercises contain no real appointments or customer data. Choose a reference or download all exercises. Downloads contain only these fixed examples and checklists, never your input.

Appointment and amount

Hello Jona, our appointment is on 14 October 2026 at 9:30 am. Please confirm the amount of 248.50 euros and bring the documents.

  • Do the name, date, time and amount match the reference?
  • Check digits and written numbers manually as well. The word comparison does not convert one into the other.
Names and tasks

Mira Neumann reviews the draft for Project Cloudpost. Leon Weiss adds three examples by Thursday. We then send the final version to the team.

  • Are the names and project name spelled correctly?
  • Are the responsibilities, deadline and number of examples preserved?
A short email

Hello Samira, please send me the new version with the subject "Approval" by Friday. The attachment is still missing two pages. Best wishes, Alex

  • Check the greeting, subject, deadline and missing pages.
  • Assess paragraphs and punctuation separately: they do not contribute to this word error rate.

From speech to a checked text

A dictation app turns speech into text. The original text checklist comes next: are the date, time, amount and recipient right? It counts words and characters, estimates reading time at 200 words per minute and lists numbers and placeholders in square, curly or angle brackets. It does not record audio or transcribe files.

Review before sending

  1. Paste your text and choose “Check text”. The practice example uses fictional details.
  2. Compare listed numbers with your calendar, notes or source document. Check spelled-out numbers such as “three” and names yourself.
  3. Replace placeholders with the right details. Read the complete text again and edit it in your destination app.

The text checklist accepts up to 20,000 characters and shows the first 40 different numbers or placeholders. An unmarked text is not necessarily correct. You still need to check recognition mistakes, grammar and the meaning of each sentence.

Compare a literal dictation with its reference

  1. Enter the text you read aloud as the reference, or choose “Use appointment example”.
  2. Paste the dictated output in the second field. Read the same text in the same environment when comparing tools; note the microphone, mode and version yourself.
  3. Choose “Compare words” to see replaced, omitted and added words. Inspect the normalized words and review names, numbers and necessary corrections separately.

Word error rate, or WER, is (replaced + omitted + added words) divided by words in the reference. An empty output counts every reference word as omitted. Added words can take WER above 100%. An empty reference or a reference containing only punctuation cannot be compared.

The calculation finds a minimum edit distance. When equally short paths give different error counts, this check prefers replacements. The score describes this text pair, not a measured product result or a ranking of dictation apps.

What the word comparison normalizes

The reference comparison accepts up to 300 normalized words and 20,000 characters per field. Unicode forms are standardized with NFKC and compared in lowercase. Letter and digit sequences form tokens; punctuation and symbols are not counted as words and separate these sequences. Accents remain significant.

Written and numeric forms are not converted: “twelve” and “12” differ. Dates and amounts therefore need a manual check. WER does not assess meaning, punctuation or intentional rewriting. Assess formatted texts, spoken corrections and structured prompts against the intended result instead of treating them as literal speech-recognition scores.

Download fictional practice exercises

Three original synthetic exercises per language cover an appointment with an amount, names and tasks, and a short email. They contain no real appointments or customer data. Each exercise includes a reference and a checklist; it is practice material, not an empirical speech corpus or product benchmark.

The UTF-8 text and CSV downloads contain only these fixed examples and checklists, never your input or your result. The CSV preserves quotes and line breaks. The examples, instructions and downloads remain readable without JavaScript; the local calculations need JavaScript.

What happens to your text

These features neither upload nor save entered text, references or results. They stay in this tab’s memory until you clear them, reload the page or close the tab. Changing either comparison field or choosing an exercise clears the previous comparison. The original text checklist clears its result when you edit its input as well. Installed browser extensions and your destination app are outside the scope of these features.
