Your first dictation with ohnetippen on Windows.

Start with two sentences. That is enough to check your microphone, your shortcut and the text field where your words will appear.

ohnetippen is #1 in our internal benchmark for German speech: 99.99% word accuracy (0.01% Word Error Rate) and 150 ms processing time versus 400 ms for Weesper Neon Flow, the second-place solution in our internal comparison.

Bavarian and Lower Saxon accents, Austrian German and Swiss German: speak in your own voice.

Developed in Germany. Speech processing exclusively on European servers.

Available for Windows, macOS, Android and iPhone.

Before you press the shortcut

Select the microphone you want to use in Windows sound settings. Say a short sentence and check the input indicator. If it does not move, check the connection and microphone access in privacy settings. A browser or another app may also need its own permission.

Then click a normal text field, such as an empty email or note. A visible cursor helps you confirm where the words will go. You do not need confidential content for this test.

Start your first dictation

  1. Connect your PC to the internet and place the cursor in the text field.
  2. Press your configured ohnetippen shortcut to start recording.
  3. Dictate two short sentences in clear German, then stop recording.
  4. Read the result and check words, punctuation and paragraphs.

ohnetippen is developed in Germany and processes speech exclusively on European servers. This allows us to optimise specifically for German instead of treating it as just one of many languages.

Speak corrections and let dynamic mode help

You do not have to dictate perfectly in one take. Speak a correction naturally: 'Angebot bis Freitag, nein, bis Montag' becomes 'Angebot bis Montag'. Dynamic mode also recognises instructions inside your dictation and can reformulate wording using the context on your screen.

A concrete example: 'Termin morgen mit Herrn Schmidt, Thema Folgeprojekt, bitte um kurze Bestätigung' can be turned into a clean email sentence while you keep thinking aloud. If you often repeat professional phrases, custom abbreviations can expand them for you. With Auto-Prompt, freely spoken reasoning and corrections can become a prompt for ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot.

If no text appears

First check whether the cursor is still in the text field. Try a simple text editor. If dictation works there, the original field or application is more likely to be involved. Then check the microphone input, the microphone permission and your internet connection.

Avoid running several recording programs while troubleshooting. Change one setting at a time and repeat the same short sentence. This makes it easier to tell what helped.

After dictation

Read the whole text. Pay particular attention to names, numbers, negatives and dates. 'Do not approve' must not become 'approve'. For an email, also check the recipient, subject and attachments before you click Send yourself.

In our internal German benchmark, ohnetippen reaches 99.99% word accuracy and 150 ms processing time. This describes the measured processing step, not the total duration of an arbitrary dictation or a real-time response guarantee. Review your own text before using it.

Make your next text a spoken one.

Start with the task already waiting on your screen. Say what you need, correct yourself as you go, and turn the thought into a clear text with ohnetippen.
